Evil Streets Media is an independent true crime and street history publication dedicated to documenting the real stories from America's most dangerous streets. We cover the untold histories of gangs, drug empires, street legends, and the intersection of hip-hop and crime culture.
Our mission is to preserve and document the complex histories of urban America — stories that mainstream media often ignores or oversimplifies. We believe these stories deserve to be told with depth, accuracy, and authenticity, drawing from court records, news archives, and documented historical sources.
Evil Streets Media covers true crime, street legends, drug kingpins, gang histories, and the relationship between hip-hop culture and the streets. Our content spans cities including New York, Chicago, Baltimore, Detroit, Philadelphia, Los Angeles, and beyond.
Markus Kane is the founder and editor of Evil Streets Media. Born in 1979, he grew up during the era he covers and has spent years researching street culture, true crime, and urban history across America. Since launching Evil Streets Media in 2024, the platform has grown to over 38,000 subscribers across its documentary and publishing channels. Markus is also the author of several books available on our Books page.
All reporting on Evil Streets Media is based on publicly available court records, news archives, federal indictments, and documented historical sources. We do not glorify criminal activity — we document it, because understanding these histories is essential to understanding American cities.
