y'all let's dive into this gangster business You know how it goes when you enter this life we all chasing the fame the lights all that glitz But we ain't stupid we know the only guarantees in this game are a cell or a casket Rod digs being who he was fully grasped what this game delivers if you in it He knew precisely what could come back around when you really locked in Nobody could've predicted the insane accusations that would eventually surface Ronald Herron better known as raw digs His story reads like some next level crime novel check this Rod digs allegedly had one of his soldiers go deep undercover wig lipstick makeup the entire production just to get next to a target he wanted eliminated His man even claimed raw digs himself threw on this disguise to execute hits on some personal business But that's just scratching the surface This cat's rap sheet was so outrageous that he ended up catching three life sentences Plus an additional 105 years just for good measure They shipped him to none other than ADX Florence the notorious supermax facility the Alcatraz of the Rockies If you ain't hip to ADX it's where they warehouse the most dangerous criminals terrorists cartel bosses gang leaders It's a spot so brutal they say death is an easier option Former wardens and inmates from ADX say that existing there is like being deceased while still breathing It's complete isolation and for raw digs this is where he's doing his time far removed from the blocks he once controlled But how did raw digs aka Ronald Herron arrive here Let's rewind born in 1982 He grew up in the grimy Gowanus projects of Brooklyn a neighborhood that's transformed a lot with gentrification But back in his era was as grimey as it comes Back then the Gowanus projects were a whole different beast crime violence and struggle were everywhere And young rod digs got swept up in it early Like so many he found himself running with the streets eventually linking up with the bloods His teenage years were basically a revolving door of correctional facilities Laying the foundation for the hard reputation he would construct later on It got real dark in September 1998 when a shooting in nearby Wyckoff Gardens left an innocent bystander deceased Just two years later on October 7th 2000 raw digs himself got touched Shot in the leg during a conflict over a drug transaction But raw wasn't the type to let that slide While still recovering in Kings County Hospital he pulled strings And had his cousins retaliate Ordering a hit on the dude who shot him That move cemented his status in the streets And he even boasted about it in a track with Uncle Murda Spitting some wild lines on slow down that basically incriminated him But the game kept getting deeper In 2001 raw digs caught a murder charge allegedly gunning down Frederick Brooks a rival dealer on June 16th 2001 the scene was brutal Brooks got hit multiple times in the face neck back and head In the lobby of 198 Bond Street It was a savage execution leaving Brooks bleeding out on the floor Raw digs and his bloods crew tried to dispose of the murder weapon But the feds were already on his trail and it wasn't long before they caught up with him By July 2001 raw digs was locked up and facing trial in New York State criminal court for the murder of Frederick Brooks The prosecution leaned on two key witnesses Let's call them witness A and witness B Both had given recorded statements to the assistant district attorney identifying raw digs as the shooter They even picked him out of a police lineup But when it was time to testify in court things took a wild turn Both witnesses recanted claiming that raw digs and his crew had threatened them But that wasn't all Witness C testified that he saw raw digs and Brooks arguing before following them into the lobby He said he watched raw digs push Brooks against the mailboxes pull out a silver gun and shoot him But even witness C understood what snitching on raw digs meant He lied about his own role in the crime to cover himself Then there was witness D who also saw the hit but refused to identify raw digs in court too scared for his life The level of fear and influence raw digs commanded in his community was real And it worked He got acquitted later boasting about beating the murder Like it was just another notch on his belt But this wasn't the end of raw digs run ins with the law Throughout the early 2000s he kept stacking his influence Building up his blood set known as the murderous mad dogs using 423 Baltic Street in Brooklyn as his headquarters His crew was deep in the game Drug dealing extortion robbery and murder Even when raw digs got briefly locked up on drug charges He still maintained control of his enterprise from behind bars Never losing his grip on the streets By the time he was released in July 2007 raw digs wasn't slowing down He was plotting bigger moves to expand his empire But the streets never stay quiet for too long In 07 a local dealer referred to in court as John Doe was moving product in the same projects raw digs controlled Competition wasn't something raw digs tolerated He ordered two of his guys to rob John Doe catching him in a building lobby Even though one of John Doe's friends tried to intervene It wasn't enough One of raw digs men pulled a weapon while the other emptied Doe's pockets Walking away with about $600 to $700 in cash After the robbery raw digs wasn't done sending his message He confronted John Doe on the 12th floor giving him a stern warning Either stop moving product in his territory or face the consequences Intimidated John Doe laid low for a few months But eventually he came back to the block This time though he wasn't reckless He approached raw digs for permission to continue selling Raw granted it but on one condition John Doe had to buy product directly from him As time went on John Doe became a trusted figure within raw digs' operation Even supervising deliveries from suppliers And handling the distribution to street dealers By early May 2008 the tension for raw digs hit a new high When Richard Russo made some disrespectful comments Russo was chilling in the lobby of 423 Baltic Street with Raw's crew while they were busy selling Feeling reckless Russo started questioning Raw's authority in Gowanus And even threatened him It wasn't long before that mistake caught up with him Just a few days later on May 9th 2008 Raw digs decided to handle things personally He approached Russo in that same lobby And told him to get in the elevator Once inside raw digs pulled out a weapon and murdered him To ensure nobody talked Raw handed out cash to one of his guys Making sure they kept their mouth shut and properly disposed of the weapon But Richard Russo wasn't the only one on raw digs' hit list Another target Kendall Robinson aka Smurf Had been causing problems around the block where raw digs was running his operation Raw Robinson was involved in several violent incidents that interfered with Raw's money And Raw wasn't about to let that go unchecked On September 13th 2008 Raw digs put the plan into motion One of his hitters tracked down Robinson and shot him outside 185 Nevins Street With a 40 caliber weapon Though Robinson survived the attack The message was loud and clear Raw wasn't playing around Even though raw digs wasn't physically there for the shooting His crew was always ready to handle his dirty work Ensuring the job was done To give you a sense of the type of people raw digs was dealing with Kendall Robinson Just 21 years old Would later be sentenced to life without parole in 2013 For the cold blooded murder of Altiaqua Niah A 16 year old girl Her crime She had pressed assault charges against one of Robinson's homies And refused to drop them Even after he got locked up In retaliation Kendall Robinson sought out Altiaqua Niah Hitting her three times as she tried to escape But he wasn't done As she begged for her life Robinson coldly stood over her and fired three more shots into her head and face Ensuring her death Fast forward to November 2008 Raw digs crew got into another beef This time with a group selling drugs in the Wyckoff Gardens projects One of Raw's associates was moving product in the area When a guy named Victor Zapata told her she couldn't sell there anymore Raw's partner George Mayer had decided to confront Zapata But things went sideways On November 9th 2008 Mayer got hit about five times during the confrontation Raw digs and his crew were furious Even recording a meeting while Mayer was recovering in the hospital Planning their retaliation They plotted to strike back hard and fast and by November 20th 2008 they made their move One of Raw's hitmen hunted down Victor Zapata and unleashed a barrage of bullets leaving him bleeding in the street This was the level of violence that defined Raw digs' operation Retaliation swift brutal and merciless But the federal government had been building their case meticulously For years they watched listened and documented every move Raw digs made They had informants embedded deep in his crew Recording conversations capturing transactions witnessing murders By late 2008 the noose was tightening and Raw digs felt it coming He started getting more paranoid more violent trying to eliminate loose ends But it was too late The feds moved in with overwhelming force In January 2009 Raw digs was arrested on federal racketeering charges The indictment was massive detailing a criminal enterprise that had operated for years involving drug trafficking weapons trafficking assault and multiple murders The evidence was overwhelming recorded conversations from informants witness testimony and documentation of the entire operation Raw digs went to trial and this time there was no walking out The jury heard the full scope of his crimes The calculated murders the intimidation the systematic control he exerted over his territory On March 12th 2010 Raw digs was convicted on all counts Three life sentences without parole Plus an additional 105 years That's essentially a death sentence in prison An existence that will end behind bars The sentence came down like a gavel on a chapter of Brooklyn street life One that had claimed numerous victims and left countless families destroyed Raw digs was transferred to ADX Florence in Colorado where he remains today In that supermax facility locked in a cell twenty-three hours a day with one hour of solitary recreation The man who once commanded an entire criminal empire now commands nothing Not even his own freedom Every day he wakes up knowing he will die in that cell knowing that every person he hurt every life he destroyed came back around exactly as he predicted when he was young The game had finally caught up with him completely and utterly Raw digs legacy is one of caution A cautionary tale about the streets and the violence that defines them His story reminds us that no matter how powerful you become no matter how much fear you instill the system of justice moves slowly but it moves inevitably For every victim he claimed for every family he devastated his three life sentences and 105 additional years stand as a permanent reminder that in this gangster business the only real guarantee isn't the fame or the money or the power It's accountability It's consequences It's the realization when you're locked in that supermax cell that the life you chose has claimed not just your freedom but your very humanity Ronald Herron Ra Diggs is buried alive breathing but dead serving sentences that will never end A man who controlled blocks and bodies now controls nothing at all That's the real gangster business fam That's the legacy
